Glowing Skin Comes From Within (Yes, It's a Bit of a Cliché—but It's True)..... We've all heard it before—"glowing skin comes from within." It's the kind of thing that's said so often it becomes a bit of a cliché, but honestly? There's a lot of truth in it.
And don't get me wrong—I'll always do everything I can to create that glow. From the skin prep I do on the day, to the illuminators and dewy products I use, I'll pull out all the stops. But here's the gentle truth: if your skin isn't in the best condition to begin with, even the most radiant products in the world won't give you that natural, lit-from-within look we're all aiming for.
Beautiful, glowing skin really does start with what you do in the lead-up—not just what I do on the day. That means having a consistent skincare routine, looking after your skin with regular facials, and being mindful about what you're using (and how you're using it). It doesn't have to be complicated or expensive, but it does have to be consistent.
If you've got dry patches or uneven texture, makeup won't sit as smoothly or last as well. It's not about blame—it's just one of those things that's worth being aware of. Makeup always looks its best when the skin underneath is well cared for.
So where do you start? Honestly, it's simpler than it might seem. Double cleansing in the evening is one of the easiest and most effective changes you can make. If you're not sure how to go about it, I've written a few blogs on the topic already, and there are loads of helpful resources out there too.
Hydration is another big one. I always talk about Hada Labo (a gorgeous Japanese brand I love) on my socials—it's lightweight, hydrating, and a great addition to any routine. Pair it with a good moisturiser, and make sure you're going to bed with clean, nourished skin.
Regular facials are something I personally swear by, especially when I've got a busy few months ahead or something special coming up. They help to keep your skin balanced, hydrated and healthy—and let's be honest, they're also a lovely little treat!
If you're not sure where to begin with skincare, Skincare by Caroline Hirons is a great book to dip into. It breaks everything down in a really simple, relatable way, and you can usually find a second-hand copy online.
And finally, don't forget: it's not just what you put on your skin, but also what you're putting into your body. Things like drinking enough water, eating your fruit and veg, and getting enough sleep make a bigger difference than you'd think.
I know we all want that dreamy, glowy skin for our big day—and I'll absolutely do my best to help create it. But if you can start putting a few skincare habits in place now, you'll not only notice a difference quickly, but your makeup will look even more beautiful on top.
Little changes can make a big impact—and your future self (and your wedding photos!) will thank you for it.
